1613 Grotius (Hugo de Groot)

Rare original first edition bound in vellum from the period Pietas (Ordinum Hollandiae ac VVestfrisiae Pietas)  from a private collection of rare antiquarian books. 

In fair condition, spots, a few old wormholes on 10 pages approximately but in it's original binding, see the photo's.

Ca 1900 Turkmenistan Ersari people 

A large high degree silver and carnelian stone Asyk pendant in heart shape, symbolizing love as part of the marriage ritual, these pendants were given to the bride for her marriage to protect from harm and bring happiness. 

This authentic and original antique ethnic piece of jewelry was loved and treasured for generation.
It has a beautiful patine and it comes from a private French collection. It is untouched and in good condition overall. Normal user wear and three openings are set with glass, 5 large carnelian stones.

XIX century China Canton 

A finely carved ivory card case, signed by the artist (to identify) with intricate scenes portraying people in daily life, in their houses, on a boat and a central lady with a fan. Throughout floral design and in depth details. 

In good condition, one line in the lid, stable and a tiny bit of damage on one flower on the sight. Hardly noticeable. 
It belonged to an English or Americain person of status. Probably made for them especially. Their name is on the inside, as is the signature of the artist.

Ca 1883-1891 England 

A rare miniature watercolor portrait painting of a young child on paper. In good condition. It sits in a giltwood frame. 

Signed at the back by the renowned painter Frank Dicksee (1853-1928).

FRANK DICKSEE was a member of a noted artistic family, his father, brother, and sister Margaret were all well-known painters, and the family lived in the Bloomsbury area of London. He was initially trained by his father, before entering the Royal Academy Schools in 1870. Among the visiting lecturers who trained him, were the famous senior academicians Leighton (1830-1896) and Millais (1829-1896). Dicksee was a star student, with an interest in the Pre-Raphaelites, earning many distinctions and medals. Like many other artists of the day his early career was largely spent in book illustration, as well as some stained glass window design. He started exhibiting at the RA in the mid 1870's, and also exhibited at the Grosvenor Gallery, though his real base was always the Academy. Dicksee made his reputation with Harmony, exhibited at the Academy in 1877, and bought by the Chantry Bequest.

Ca 1900 Japan / France

A Japanse Meiji period lacquered Maki-e box called Fubako with original cord.
Mother of pearl inlay work and signed by the maker. To identify. A beautiful tree with leaves and flowers (cherry blossom most possibly) is depicted on the top. 

In very good condition, no pieces missing and only two tiny nicks to the gilding. 
 

A rarity because made for or used by 'A la Marquise de Sévigné' (signed inside), the renowned chocolate makers that were famous for their sweets and rare boxes.

Late XIX/early XX century France

A rare assembled (possibly convent work) reliquary with more than 50 bone relics from different saints with name labels from different periods (18th century and later) in a leather frame.

The relics have suffered somewhat and are a little lose at places, some of the labels have shifted but it is a rare and bountiful ex-ossibus reliquary. 

It was bought from a noble family in the centre of France.

Paris ca 1890

Edmond Lachenal (1855-1948)

Rare glazed and enameled ceramic vase in the naturalistic orientalist "Japonisme" style, so favored by Monet and Van Gogh. Decor of butterflies and flowers in bright blue colors on a yellow fond. Signed twice. 

Edmond Lachenal was a French ceramist, painter and sculpture, formed by Théodore Deck himself. 

This vase is in reasonably good condition, the firing crack in the bottom that was possibly somewhat large has been professionally restored in the past, up to 2 cm from the bottom rim. See the last three photos. Standing it is hardly noticeable. Very well restored. 
The vase is stable. Price is accordingly.

A very detailed wooden (either blond oak or butternut) sculpted bust of the classical beauty Venus.

Not signed but of such a high quality that we can call the sculptor a true artist. 

In good condition, some little lines but no cracks or parts missing.

A wonderful view of Montmartre Paris with the Sacre Coeur in the background, depicting the quartier with all it's rooftops and houses in great colors and in the typical modern style of Pierre Moberg. 

In good condition, on canvas, it sits in it's original giltwood and canvas frame.

After the Medieval original, a beautiful rare handblown Forest glass large green beaker with 3 Roman type masks and 18 'nuppen' with blue enameled details. 

In very good condition, nice seed all over and a good pontil mark. Signed but unclear.

Ca 1900 Belgium Louis Reckelbus (Brugge 1864-1958)

A very typical Dutch, probably Schiedam, made during his travel to the Netherlands, village scene in gouache and watercolor on paper, depicting characters in the dress of the period during their activities (so called Klederdracht) and wind mills. 

Signed lower right corner. 
 

In fair condition, some discoloring of the paper but the gouache still vibrant. 
 

It sits in a passe-partout and giltwood frame behind glass. Some little nicks to the frame.
