A rare pair of Delft vases, in exceptional condition. No restorations, very minor glaze-chips, that's to it's 200 plus-years of age, visible in the photo. Beautiful pastoral scenes in cobalt bleu under glossy tin-glaze. The handles are each side shaped as two entwined snakes, finished with dotted 'lace', typical of Delftware motifs. This is a substantial, decorative piece from the best period of Dutch ceramic art. The undersite bears the freehand signature of Paulus Van De Burgh, PVDB, a master potter, active in Delft, 1759-1773. The signature is usual the name of the potterie, not always the painter.
